Total white

White never goes out of fashion: it is the color that, as we are taught by science, contains within it all the colors of the spectrum; it also instills feelings of tranquility, purity, lightness, etc.

It is used in architecture, design or in clothing, the white is a suitable choice for characterizing sober and minimalist products.

Surely we all have at least one white home furnishing; what I propose, however, is a project of a living area in which all the furnishing have white finishing. The choice was dictated by the tastes of the customer and the need to optically expand the environment: in addition to the features described above, the white, in fact, like all light colors, has the ability to expand the spaces, making them look larger.

We are in a building in the city: the apartment is on the first floor, it is about 90 square meters, with living area facing north; in addition to reasons of taste, the choice of the furniture in total white was also dictated by the exposure of the living room: the north side, for its characteristic, is poorly lit, despite the presence of a large French window, from which you have access to a small balcony.
The entrance to the apartment is right through the living area of about 20 square meters, with regular planimetric conformation; a small corridor leads to the sleeping area, while to the south, a sliding door allows the entrance to the kitchen.

But let's get to the furniture project of the living room through the positioning of the various elements; it was divided functionally into two parts, the first devoted to conviviality, with a large table to accommodate friends and family, the second is the relaxation area with sofa and modular furniture to accommodate tv and furnishings.

The size of the living room has allowed the housing of a table of important dimensions: the choice fell on Beam by MDF Italy, a rectangular table of size 180x90 cm, characterized by a particular conjunction radiused corner between the top and leg.
The legs are made in solid wood, while the top Cristalplant® is opaque white.

Together with it are six chairs Babila 2730 by Pedrali, with structure in polymer, elastic material and comfortable and steel legs. Their form, in case of need, makes them stackable.



To light precisely the surface of the top, were installed two hanging lamps 365 + Brasa by Ikea with steel lampshade, while for the global illumination of the space were chosen LED spotlights, recessed in a false ceiling.

The relaxation zone, however, is characterized by the presence of a modular furniture and a sofa with ottoman; it was chosen the piece of furniture from the line T030 by Lema, designed by Piero Lissoni and characterized by a set of modules of different sizes and colors, to be assembled depending on the user's needs and the space available.

For the living room in question, using the wall of the length of 2.50 m was chosen a very linear composition, in which to place TV, books and furniture and glassware on the shelves inside the cabinets; the structure allows the positioning of the TV or other media with the possibility of concealing wires and sockets which would be inelegant to see. The chosen finish, of course, is white, in its opaque variant.



As mentioned before, in front of it, it was placed a sofa, specifically Place Sofa by Vitra, designed by Jasper Morrison; the product has been designed in such a way as to be extremely comfortable. The structure and the backs are low, but very wide and padded to ensure a high level of comfort; thanks to the modular design you can configure it to your liking and customize it with ottomans and pillows of various types.
To make the room warm and cozy, it has been placed on the floor a carpet in wool and cotton, color beige.



The danger in adopting white monochromatic elements may lie in the creation of a cold place: this risk has been avoided through the application, to the floor and to the wall, of hot elements.

As a floor covering was chosen to lay a dark parquet, in order to create a slight color contrast; specifically was chosen a parquet finished in wengè. On the walls, however, have been matched the wooden paneling painted in white: layed to a height of 100 cm, give, with their light moldings, an interesting contrast between the ancient of the coating and the modern of the furniture.
