The cracks that form between the bathroom fixtures and the walls easily let the water penetrate and often the dirt nuzzles there.
Because of this phenomenon odors may arise and can proliferate unsightly molds.
To completely eliminate the inconvenience it is better to put some silicone sealant.
This material is malleable and fluid seeps into the smallest cracks and seals them perfectly.
1) Before proceeding with the sealing of a bathroom fixture wash and dry its surface and the adjacent tiles.
2) In the area where the sealant will be applyed pass a cloth or a cotton ball soaked in alcohol or rectified petrol.
3) With adhesive tape cover parts of the bathroom fixture and of the adjacent walls and leave exposed only the line on which the silicone will be applied to.
4) With a cutter cut the nozzle of the cartridge silicone extrusion to prepare it.
5) Insert the cartridge in the silicone applicator gun.
6) Again using the cutter cut off the first part of the applicator tip and screw the latter onto the spout of the sealant cartridge.
7) Extrude the silicone pressing the gun handle and apply to the line of contact between the bathroom fixture and the wall.
Do not move the gun too fast.
To shape the silicone accurately and to flatten it adequately use a wet finger.
8) Let the silicone dry at least 24 hours.
When it is completely solidified, you can remove the tape you have placed on the bathroom fixture and long along the wall.
9) To perform a precise finish work, get a razor blade and, with this, cut away any excess of sealant and all the smears.
In this way, the result will be perfect.
