Have you ever played with fabrics? It seems that for children, even in the age of technology, it is a reality.
A healthy, whole ecological reality and among other things, really funny. An alternative to the usual video games, a break to carve out also with parents and not only.
The fabrics are the protagonists of a number of interesting products, related to the world of children, their space and their playing habits. Object all made in Italy; a real Made in Italy quality, ranging from fashion accessories, to objects and decorations ecological and beautiful.
Always in the limelight thanks to fashion, couture and glamor style, cutting and sewing today also fits perfectly in the space of the children; and as once grandmothers sewed dolls and rag dolls for their grandchildren, there are those who continue that tradition, in a very creative and fun way. I'm talking about Maria Piovano and her Recreational Tailor's shop. A place where we not only find fabrics and sewing accessories, but also where we experience, thanks to alternative materials and shapes.
At the core are the children and their games; around a series of products that, starting from a strong functional component, become at the same time game and accessory, very nice at that.
For the little ones, for example, there are some nice gags, the bavagliacci, which at first glance are remind more of dish towels, which just uses the graphics and the fabric of.
Or again beach towels or for day trips to the country side with the children, where the fabric, with a generous size and comfortable forms, is made by combining on one side terry cloth and on the other cotton cloth.
The Recreational Tailor's shop by Maria Piovano also has other interesting products, ranging from dolls, to accessories for the house. Curious and very practical, textiles for children such as aprons for the thousands of small business, to the fairy-tale characters, as Lina, Teresa and Tobia, the animals with cloth together like Linus's blanket, useful for example for a birth present, initially to furnish the bedroom or even for the first birthdays.
But the attention to children, to their needs and their games, does not end here, especially in relation to the use of textiles. We don't need to move too far in fact, and from the Piemonte region we go to Bergamo where is located Peridea, a young company specializing in ecological stickers for children, which will be present with more news, at the winter edition 2015 of the next HOMI in Milan.
We have repeatedly talked about how some years the wall stickers have invaded the world of mural decoration, involving not only the sphere of adults, but finding great success in that of children. Practical, economical and beautiful, the stickers are a great way to decorate a room, renovating it quickly in the look and most of the time without leaving spots.
With Peridea the sphere of use widens; not just decor, but also game, active and fun. The products of the brand are unconventional: it is real art at the service of children. No coincidence between the collaborations, we also find illustrators and design studios of some importance.
Stickers completely Italian, born a couple of years ago from the creative mind of Giacinta Maria Massaro, who created products designed to stimulate the imagination of children, not only with classic games, but opening them to the art world since the early years.
But let's see into the detail. The stickers are made using the fabric of adhesive polyester, which can be easily reused and repositioned on the wall, without leaving any trace.
And after the collaboration with the Friday project , a study based in Amsterdam formed by Luca Boscardin and Valentina Raffaelli, with the line Polar Route, it is the turn of robots or landscapes, and everything needed for a camping in the outdoors, until you get to castles and princesses, in a new collection designed by Ilaria Faccioli and presented at the last Playtime Paris.
Beautiful colors but also the idea that they are environmentally friendly products, biodegradable and studied with adhesives and water paints. Last, but not least: the packaging.
The stickers can be purchased on the Peridea web site.
Finally, speaking of objects and products in multipurpose fabric, related to the world of children, I can not miss to mention the interesting project Le Pezze.
At first they are bought as blankets and then one continues using them as very fashion scarves. Handcrafted, they are a completely Italian project, based on the use of quality fabrics, to create objects that endure over time, renewing each time the mode of use.
Le Pezze come from soft and original combinations and embody the classic 90 x 90 cm scarves for women, but it can be used in various ways, so as to accompany the growth of the children, first as blanket, then as a scarf, even for mom.
The main feature is the use of very different fabrics, ranging from cashmere to fleece, to the most classic of the shirt fabrics of the adults: the Oxford. The colors are very nice, but the size, in addition to the classical measure, also include smaller solutions specific for children, the famous Panierini. The prices are around 100 euro and the various models can be purchased directly on the web site.
Well ... a nice idea, in this case, as a birth gift or as a treat for yourself or for your child.
Finally, you know that to decorate the space, in particular for children, there is no objection to using the ceiling? With the mobiles it is so. Or, as Munari called them, Useless Machines: objects with pure aesthetic function. He had built several, using lightweight materials, decorated with spot colors and combined with thin sticks or silk thread, ready to move to a simple puff of air.
But these objects are actually a great feature: in addition to decorating, for kids are a great way to learn to distinguish colors and shapes, as well, in time, when it's time to entertain during the diaper change.
Among the Italian reality, we point out Nonsolonuvole, which achieves small felt decorations, between clouds, fish, animals and more, also to be customized. Designed to be hung over the crib, at the window or to the ceiling, they are, also in this case, a good birth gift.
