That wood always has its charm in home environment, is well known. Even if it is modified due from passing of the time, from fashions and architectural solutions, it remains one of the finishes and solutions most adopted with regard to the complements and furnishings of the house.
At the last Salone del Mobile in Milan we saw a preview of what lies ahead for the future and for the next few seasons, with a return to the wood in its original form, often not even treated, if not with environmentally friendly products often studied and tailored to achieve a finish that apparently does not alter its natural state, and it is pleasant to the touch.
Among the companies seen during the Saloni Milanesi, we find Morelato, who in this occasion presented a series of products for the living area, such as tables, bookcases and chairs, together with beds and accessories, presenting an interesting overview of styles and influences between classic and modern. Also interesting is the landscape of designers and architects involved.
Just take a look at the lounge chair, designed by Mario Botta. The super star gave it in 2013 to Aldo Morelato Foundation, who later introduced the piece within its catalog. Made of birch plywood with a thickness of 16mm, it is finished with maple veneer, then assembled with joints. To finish off the cushion and the seat upholstery products are made with soft and covered in leather.
Moving on to another famous architect, here we have Piero Lissoni, which again for Morelato, created the Codex library, built entirely in ash wood.
Made with pre-coated red ant, actually it has an internal structure with black and clean lines. Thanks to its extremely practical shape, it can be easily used both arranged along a wall in the traditional way, and as a room divider in the middle of a room.
Codex also has the distinction of having interior geometry but of different sizes, so going to create a lively pattern and a nice play of solids and voids.
Morelato also presented other types of furniture, always in wood base, including Ceppo, in solid zebrano wood, by Marco Fiorentino, the product winner of the 2013 Competition Significant Furniture dedicated to the world of small complementary furniture. Consisting of 4 special items, it is actually made possible thanks to the combination of 3 elastic rubber, and finished with edges of different finishes.
And yet Errante, Michael Manzini, a library that comes from the Venice Biennale and has at its base a research and a design study in the balance between design and art. Made of ash wood, it really is lightened by glass tops.
If you are lovers of design and you know a little history, it will be enough to pronounce the name: Thonet. The historic German company, known for having created the famous steam-bending wood, has appeared at the Salone del Mobile in Milan with a new collection 2014, dedicated to old icons revisited and a series of new projects, always focusing on the use of wood and experimental at the same time practical.
Inside the new sets of furniture, even S1200 Bureau, a project created by Thonet Design Team / Randolf Schott, which is based on the concept of micro desk and comfortable at the same time, designed for environments where you need to save space but at the same time to get a place in which to deposit and settle down when you need a study and a table top work. Available in different finishes and variations, it has supplied a number of accessories that make it highly customizable according to the needs of the space usage, as well as available in various color finishes
Its compact size, 88 cm high, 110 cm long and only 66.5 deep, the secretaire allow the S1200 to be used in different ways, thanks to the declivity specifically designed to allow those who sit near you to stand up smoothly and comfortably. Finally, again for reasons of ergonomics and posture, the footrest placed at the bottom allows you to maintain a position of the back and comfortable without creating pain even if you remain seated for long. The accessories are suitable both for use in connection with writing, and with electronic devices and tablets. Made of sheet steel flocked, are all very pleasant to the touch and help protect it from scratches the surface of the desk.
