Maison & Objet is one of the most anticipated events with regard to manufacturers of furniture and furnishings: the most recent edition takes place in Paris in January, from the 24th to the 28th.

Let us look at some of the most interesting innovations that will be previewed at this international trade fair that has always been a certain reference point for the industry experts.

New collection of home furnishings

Gueridon di Meissen Couture At the annual meeting of Maison & Objet, the company Meissen Couture presented a new collection of home furnishings, that expand the already rich Home Collection. The new creations are a tribute to the famous factory at Mid Century Style, art movement born in the last century.

The high-quality surfaces in different materials are characterized by geometric patterns and decorations, as well as plastic shapes and sinuous lines. The processing elements are inlaid porcelain, made exclusively by hand: these elegant decorations in glazed porcelain, embellish every specimen of Home Collection, helping to make it a true work of art.

The originality inspires the whole collection: every piece of furniture is unique, designed to facilitate the combination of the different pieces and to adapt to any environment. Each item can be customized according to the tastes of the client, giving rise to a very individual conception of interior design.

The key elements of the company are graphic symbols and color, evident on tables, chairs, armchairs, rugs, lamps and other furniture components. Following this principle, the carpet and the silk fabric pendant Royal Palace are characterized by a graphic pattern inspired by a historical mosaic. Similarly, the Chinese Stripes fabric is the accurate interpretation of the Chinoiserie style, and it is characterized by a style at once classic and modern.

The pride of the collection is the Gueridon table, available in two different designs and in two sizes: the craftsmanship and artistic creativity in working with wood, inlaid with fine glazed porcelain, they reach their maximum expression here, turning every element in a single copy. The matching chairs are in finely embroidered woven with the iconic motif of the crossed swords. Finally, the lamps with the same pattern hand-forged swords are inspired by George Lantern and are embellished with a gold filigree.

Innovative chair suitable for any environment

Dragonfly di Segis Segis participates in this edition of Maison & Objet presenting the innovative Dragonfly chair, designed by Odo Fioravanti. This innovative seat is inspired by the original structure of dragonflies, characterized by an imbalance of weight between the legs and tail, as if to defy the force of gravity.

From this suggestion was born the idea of creating a chair in cantilever with four legs mounted on the front of the chair, with the seat almost suspended. The project involved a considerable effort in achieving a steel structure to envelop the front edge of the seat while remaining resistant; this research has allowed to make a U-shaped element hidden under the seat, thereby increasing the resistance.

The dynamism of the chair has been pointed out in the back of the body by inserting some ribs that resemble the radiating surfaces. The shell is made of molded polypropylene, the collection also includes versions with the four tubular legs with shoe or rod.

New line of exclusive lamps and lightings

Pipistrello di Martinelli Luce As every year the appointment with Martinelli Luce Maison & Objet is renewed from the 24th of January untill the 28th, 2014 that transforms the city of Paris; a key event to present the new company, more and more engaged in the definition of a design characterized by essential aesthetics. Among the changes, here is the new series Circular Pol XXL and renewed versions of Bat and Minipipistrello.

Circular Pol XXL consists of a series of scattered light fixtures, ceiling and suspension. The structure is molded polyethylene, prepared for fluorescent lamps. Circular Pol XXL is modular, with 8 curved sectors connected by a joint, so as to form a single circular element.

Bat is a table lamp or floor lamp, diffused light with fluorescent bulbs, adjustable in height and equipped with a diffuser in white opal methacrylate, stainless steel telescope, lacquered metal base and knob, available in white, red, purple, dark brown, brushed aluminum.

Designed in 1965 by Gae Aulenti, the lamp is made with absolutely innovative molding techniques for the era in which it was designed. The shape of the conical base grows upward in the ribs of the diffuser creating an image similar to the wings of a bat. Minipipistrello is its variant with reduced dimensions.
