Console tables and modern sideboards for the house

There are pieces of furniture that do not necessarily fall within the necessary, but that in the end, are among the most practical and the most used in everyday life. One of these is the console table, a middle ground between a table, a bearing surface and a container, it is often also equipped with a mirror, which can be placed in various points of the house, due to its versatility.

The console table in addition to being versatile, though, is a piece of furniture that can easily be revisited in a modern key, fitting perfectly even in those domestic spaces more minimal and refined.

Modern and colorful console table for the house

One of the latest versions, among other colorful and simple in form, is Tconsolle, created by the designer from Bergamo Gloria Colleoni and proposed by Formabilio, the online platform dedicated to young designers and made in Italy, which, by creating synergies, connects companies and designers.
Mobile Tconsolle is a simple and functional furniture. It has a closed compartment, available in three colors and two areas to the side, open, perfect to use as an external library. The table top surface becomes a basis for a change tray for electronic devices or even just for a vase and flowers to be placed at the entrance.

Made of lacquered wood fiber panels, it has lacquered doors in contrasting colors and a basic structure in solid wood, made in evaporated beech wood. The furniture must be fixed to the wall and can also be used not only at the entrance, but also as a desk somewhere in the living room or the bedroom.

A project to Tconsolle, which is part of a project interesting and useful that Formabilio continues through contests and links, with production of the winning products, from artisans companies based in Veneto.



Another interesting version of the console table is when using it as a practical support, but that, if necessary, thanks to the extendible solutions, turns into a real table, in order to accommodate many people.
For example, the console table proposed by the mark Calligaris Baron X-Tension is actually an extendible table, available in two different depths and made of brushed steel with the top in white gloss laminate.
The peculiarities of the product, in addition to versatility, are the two-tone effect of the edge methacrylate and the open mode: while the first extendible has a flap, the second opens like a book and it is finished as the central shelf.

Modern sideboard for the house

Another piece of furniture very popular and often intended to be purchased over time on the basis of usefulness and also on the layout of the space, is the sideboard. The sideboard is a supplement that comes from long ago. Formerly used as a storage unit, over time it took on different roles, becoming a piece of forniture that in some cases results being a whim and that, for this reason, can be re-interpreted in very different ways.


An interesting product that partly remind the console table by Formabilio, is Freyr Wewood, a company specializing in furniture and quality wood furniture. Freyr has sliding doors, colorful and simple. It is available in green, but it is framed with a solid wood structure, as well as the Classic version, without color, but in natural wood.



A colorful and funny sideboard, which can be a forniture by itself, is Pantalone, a storage unit created by the brand Altreforme and declined in other versions, all of which recall the Carnival and its typical characters.

The collection was created in collaboration with the fashion house Moschino, whose lures are quite visible in the graphics and the strong colors. All this combines with other pieces of furniture such as chairs, versatile tables and cabinets, always in the same style as playful and informal.

On the other hand, Mally by Azea, is a sideboard with a slightly elevated structure, which has two sliding doors, with soft curves reminiscent of the Scandinavian style, also available in light colors and natural materials.


The main structure of the forniture by Azea is made of natural wood veneer chestnut, but finished with a matt varnish that reveals the grain. Furthermore, the sideboard is finished with two sliding doors, glossy finish that mix perfectly with the rest of the piece of forniture.
