The design of the large windows was created primarily for reasons related to light and air: especially in northern countries, where daylight hours are rather scarce, the presence of large openings facilitates the entry of natural light inside the rooms.
But imagine a beach house with a beautiful view: how not to provide it with large windows from which to admire the landscape? And so to remedy the overheating caused by the entry of sunlight from them, you should install appropriate dimming systems.
They, in addition to ensuring sunscreen, also act as a filter to the outside, allowing you to enjoy the view and light, but also privacy when needed.
The functions then of the dimming systems are mainly two: depending on the orientation of the building and the time of day to allow the entry of light, or act as a barrier against the sun's rays and provide privacy to users inside the house.
There are multiple types of dimming systems.
Their installation must be studied in relation to several factors: the first is definitely the orientation of the room. In fact, when a room is oriented towards the south we will need a dimming system that efficiently protect the room during the hottest hours; the opposite when facing to the north, due to the lack of direct lighting, we could also prevent the installation.
But much depends on the functions of the room: if we are in a bedroom, then the darkening system is always advisable to avoid the entry of light in the early hours of the day and ensuring privacy. In a living room or a kitchen, the darkening system assumes more the character of a piece of furniture, which can contribute to the shape of the space.
Precisely for the reasons explained above, the choice of the type of dimming system should be conducted according to taste, but mainly according to the function to which it has to perform, if pure furnishing element or filter.
Let's start with the classic dimming systems: blinds and shutters.
The first, characteristics of the post-war housing or houses in the countryside, act as a barrier, a filter with the outside: made in most cases of wood, they need constant maintenance because of the dust which is deposited between the slats, adjustable or fixed, and the sun's rays which, over time, tend to ruin the structure.
The shutters or blinds, that can be roller blinds, are the most recent dimming systems for apartments: usually installed inside the apartment buildings, are mainly made of PVC and aluminum and are housed inside a box. Their operation can be by hand or electric.
While constituting a further barrier against the intrusion and they are very functional, aesthetically obsolete and unsuitable on large windows and in a room where you can enjoy a beautiful view.
The most common dimming system are the curtains: they are made of silk, cotton or synthetic materials the curtains decorate the room and provide a high level of customization.
Indeed, in addition to the material to be used, you can choose from an infinite number of types: roman blinds, panel, rail straight or curled, etc.. In short, choosing material, color and type of operation the curtains are a real piece of furniture very suitable for bedrooms and living rooms.
The kitchen is known as a workplace from which odors spread: to prevent odors to get absorbed into tissues or be stained, it is very suitable the housing of the dimming systems inside the dubleglazing. What is it exactly?
We're talking about traditional Venetian blinds, however, are not installed on the window but inside the glass, the doubleglazing, which is the cavity that separates the two panes, internal and external, that make up the window.
The sliding of these curtains occurs in sealed environment, isolated from the dust, in such a way as to avoid any problem of cleaning and maintenance. The control systems of such curtains are basically three: the magnetic system, in which the curtain rises and orients, thanks to the contact of two magnets; motorized magnetic system, which works with an outboard motor; motorized system with swivel function, equipped with motor and micro control unit, integrated into the dumpster and applicable to every type of curtain.
The materials that are made of these curtains are of various types and of various colors, translucent, opaque, so it is possible to equip every part of our house according to different needs, and their location, as mentioned above, are revealed useful in close proximity to areas where they produce fumes and odors, such as kitchens and bathrooms.
