Creating your own stamps to use for decorating surfaces requires little equipment.
First of all all you have to choose a soft rubbery material to create the figure.
The better stamps are those made with rubber. The most suitable rubber to carve the stamps is the soft rubber in linoleum of the green mats.
The rubber of the green mat in linoleum is very similar to the one used to create industrial stamps. On this type of rubber the color spreads well and is contained properly.
To carve the desired image you have to get the scissors (great are those small ones for manicure) and a well-sharpened knife.
With carbon paper you can pass on the rubbery surface the design of your choice.
To define and highlight the design you will need a soft pencil or marker fom acetate.
The work place where you will work is very important.
It must be flat and have a surface area in which to make the cuts with a scalpel without ruining the surface.
In fact, glass is better because the cutting does not remain engraved.
With care and attention you will need to engrave the outline of the design so that the cut is continuous.
The rubber stamp, after being made will need to have a support where to adhere.
To achieve stamps to print flat surfaces with, is ideal a support in wood.
Another interesting support for this type of rubber stamp are rollers.
They can also be mounted on small rolling pins normally used to roll out the dough.
In this case it is advisable to first stick the shapes on a flexible rubber or linoleum sheet and then apply the foil with the images on the support.
To attach the rubber on the support, you can use cyanoacrylate glues, adhesives or two-component transparent silicone glue that is very elastic.
The colors used to decorate the surfaces are diverses and should take account of the area in which we want to give the drawing.
For the fabrics we'll use for fabrics colors and colors for ceramic for ceramic, and so on.
