This article will talk about how to design a personalized wet bar in your own house, it must be out of the traditional pre-packaged schemes; and that proves to be the protagonist of the living area, enhancing it.
I thought of a real corner of furniture, with both decorative and functional effect, which took shape thanks to the versatility of plasterboard, the natural charm of the stone, with shades of marble, glass and mirrors: to create a bar area that is a meeting point for a drink with the guests. To feel at home, just like at the bar.
The idea of designing a wet bar, was created to promote a small space of the living room, where at most we could place a green composition, and a floor of furniture.
We preferred to use this corner of the living room that has remained unused, in place of representation, a bar is always open, to offer a drink to the guests.
From the plant side, we see that I have used for this purpose, a square area of 1.30 x 1.30 m, fitted wall interposed between the door and the window of the balcony.
On the left you can see a section of a false-wall, built with stone walls, of about 20 cm thickness. To this stone wall, is connected a plasterboard structure, self-supporting, to create the furniture of our corner bar, a square platform that grows vertically, with two bars, as will be clearly visible in my perspective drawing below.
Here's what it looks like from the front, looking from the living room, a home cormer bar, which is the junction between the wall unit in lacquered yellow, and the access to the balcony.
The first intervention was to give a new texture to the walls, handling the game with stones, crystals, mirrors and lights.
Is the dominant counterwall with exposed stone multicolor, to act as a natural background, and upward momentum where going to intersect the ceiling.
A system of global illumination in diffuse light, is inserted into ducts carved in the ceiling, to draw a rectangle around the entire perimeter of the hall.
A notch in the ceiling, hidden at the eye, the slide rail for panel curtains, chosen to give less space to pass: curtain fabric rayon and cotton, in light background with floral decorations in shades of yellow, to give small touches of light.
The floor is made in white marble slabs, placed diagonally, which reflect the structure of the corner used as a bar.
So the angle bar is composed of a platform in reinforced plasterboard, covered with the same marble flooring. Such a platform, is the self-supporting structure, prolonged in two vertical baffles, assuming, as a whole, a U-shaped section.
So it has formed a septum outside, having the function of a top counter, whose facade is painted in the same pink salmon of the wall background, to give continuity; while the counter top, is made of thickend white glass. Before the counter top there are two stools in stylish faux leather yellow, to recall the furniture of fitted adjacent wall.
Another internal baffle, plays the role of the service plan, for support and containment; indeed its base, although at reduced depth of only 20 cm, is enclosed by glass sliding doors frosted gray, and assumes the function of the pantry for the bar.
From the enlarged detail, stands out in the foreground a geometric volume suspended vertically inserted into the structure of the ceiling.
It is composed of two parts. A top plasterboard closed to form a ceiling light with LED lights, and an open bottom, formed from tubular steel quarry, to hold up a glass shelf holders, which seems to be almost invisible.
In this way, this parallelepiped as a whole, performs a double function: illumination of the counters, and support for the various types of glasses and cups.
This ceiling-suspended cupholders, goes to be reflected in the large mirror wall behind, which is interposed between the counter of the service, and the ceiling, and the space goes well, in duplicate.
We have therefore created a bar area which is almost like a totem of furniture, which attracts the looks, and fits perfectly in the context of living, which buys a space, dedicated to conviviality.
A corner bar impact decorative and functional, thanks to the many ductility of plasterboard, the effect of the material stone, with the thousand lights donated by marbles, crystals and mirrors, which reflect light games.
