The before and after on the entrance area of a residential apartment. The entrance had a basic architectural structure with linear mirrored wardrobe, and simple false ceiling.
With a minus: the presence of a reinforced concrete pillar, anonymous and without any particular meaning or role, it was in the middle of the separation between the doorway and living. Let's see the solution I designed on realistic hand free drawing.
Here's what the entrance area of the apartment looked like, before the makeover.
In my graph, we see the front door; on the left, access to the kitchen area, as revealed by the presence of a wall, the videophone.
A built-in wardrobe, on the left, goes to the service area - night.
It is linear, with a honeycomb structure made of wood panels, painted matt white; it is mirrored centrally, to give brightness and depth to the environment.
This cabinet assumes a dual function: pantry for the kitchen, and coats holder to welcome guests at the entrance of the apartment.
A false ceiling is to outline the entrance area and kitchen: to enable the technical channelings of the air conditioning and lighting with recessed spotlights.
A structural column, remained as a small vertical volume, as a partial and anonymous partition, between the entrance and the dining area - living.
On the whole, therefore, an essential architectural ensemble, typical of the interior from the 90s.
The client wished therefore, to change the layout of entrance-living, he especially looking for a solution to the problem of the pillar, remained unsolved for years: to minimize and/ or customize it, according to a new interpretation.
As for the flooring, it is preferred not to intervene, since this is beautiful slabs of marble Giallo Reale light tones, which have preserved intact over time, the original splendor.
Metamorphosis of the entrance area: at first affects the look the presence, in this new scene, of a colonnade, as I thought I would create a second column to the twin pillar preexisting. In fact, thanks to a box in plasterboard, takes shape this second column, in optical symmetry with the other, in a specular way.
Both columns have become twins now, are dressed with perimetral gessolini and important basic skirting; while a wainscoting painted in dove gray, in the lower portion of the columns, is the tape baseline, gives a touch of décor effect duotone, in contrast with the remaining walls and ceilings.
The same wood paneling along the bottom perimeter of the walls of the entrance area - living, accompanying and highlighting the passage to the kitchen area on the left side of the drawing, and from the sleeping area.
I thought I would change in a noninvasive way the appearance of the ceiling. From the enlarged detail below, is visible on the back of the columns, a semicircular peak, classical style, to highlight the centrality of the colonnade, while enhancing the hallway entrance - living.
At the center of the ceiling, was made a spectacular coffered rectangular plasterboard: it consists of six squares falling, which are inserted in plaster rosettes, with LED lights. This composition in squares, is enclosed by a double frame in chalk, interposed with a dove-gray mat.
Here is also a new face for the cabinet: the pre-existing doors have been removed, replacing them with new frame doors in classic style, surmounted by a squared shelf, to make the game with the coffered ceiling.
The center stack, which first appeared linear and mirrored, now hosts a surprise, a niche with curvilinear forms: valance upper side walls and rounded to recall the design of the semicircular peak at the ceiling, as described above.
This niche has at the base, a long narrow drawer, like an open console, covered with a glass roof; on which rests a piece of furniture, illuminated by a suspension.
The rear wall of the enclosure is fitted with a mirror, which reflects the front of the colonnade that faces the dining- living area; giving, as a whole, a dilator effect.
Thus was produced a real makeover, ie a change looks of the entrance area.
The invention of the second column mate, has created an elegant colonnade, on the scenic impact. A perimeter wall paneling in all, gave tone and continuity to the entrance-living, outlining the volumes towards the kitchen area, and the environment at night.
New style to the ceiling: a caisson into squares with rosettes, which stand out through the rays of led lights. Decorative effect to the closet, turned into a classic-chic style; with a mirrored niche - open console, in the depth of which you can mirror the space.
