Types of washbasin

The washbasin is one of the fundamental elements that make up the decor of the bathroom and in addition to performing an undoubted practical function, it also has an important role in terms of aesthetics. Many are in fact the types and solutions available both as regards the structure both for the design. Among the less current types and now with a vintage taste, we find the classic pedestal washbasin, which rests precisely on a column fixed to the floor and within which lies the siphon.

If, from an aesthetic point of view the sink in column offers an advantage because it hides the siphon, on a practical level, it does not allow the use of vanity units and does not offer support points, which would allow to optimize the space, especially in a small room .

Similar to the column washbasin is the suspended one, with or without the siphon. Both types, in many cases, have been revised from the aesthetic point of view, and are available in models of design and vintage flavor to combine color and original materials, alternative to ceramic. Widespread and equipped with high functionality are instead the built in washbasin, which have the recessed sink, precisely, in a top which is typically made in a different material.

Among the built in washbasins, there are two types, one on the top, in the case in which the edge protrudes from the top, and the other one which, on the contrary is under the top when the edge remains below the top. In both cases, the top can provide a useful supporting point, optimizing the management of the space inside the bathroom, while the space below can be used fully. From the aesthetic point of view also the presence of a top of a different material allows to choose the combination that is preferred especially regarding the colors.

Distinctly modern and in line with the latest trends, is the countertop washbasin, which has the sink literally resting on a perforated top. which can be made of any material. In this case, the taps can be wall-mounted or placed on top. From the aesthetic point of view, this type certainly offers many solutions and you can indulge in the composition.

Finally, among the most widely used types, we find the sink built into the top, allowing you to choose the colors with the utmost freedom, as well as the materials of the top, from the most resistant, such as Corian, to the more elegant such as glass, that can be brushed or polished.

Washbasin and furniture

The basin, together with the other pieces of furniture, certainly plays an important role in defining the style of bathroom furnishings. For this reason, it is critical to properly combine colors and materials of the basin to those of the bathroom fixture and the coatings. Very important in this respect is also the shape of the basin. The most common shapes are usually the round or the oval, suitable for environments with medium or large size and especially with classic taste.



The square shape, however, as well as fitting well in smaller spaces, from the aesthetic point of view is well matched to the minimalist surroundings and modern character. The material with which it is made affects the appearance of the washbasin. Ceramic for example, adapts to any environment while marble definitely gives a touch of elegance, especially in refined and classic spaces. A separate topic are the models of design, designed especially for the most exclusive and trendy spaces. On the market there are different solutions suitable to meet every kind of need, both in terms of aesthetic and convenience.
